Le Bonheur Club volunteers contribute more than 1,200 service hours
each year at the hospital. Serving coffee and snacks to parents,
delivering crayons and coloring books to patients and keeping
the Bunny Room stocked are a few of the ways volunteers bring smiles
to the faces of both the children and their parents.
- Hospitality. Le Bonheur Club members often volunteer
to deliver coffee, donuts, soft drinks, and packaged snacks
to parents who are staying with their children. Many of the
parents don't want to leave their child's room, and
the Le Bonheur Club volunteers bring welcome relief
and comfort.
- Treasure Cart. Club members bring smiles to the faces
of the children and their parents by wheeling a Treasure Cart
from room to room. The cart contains magazines for the parents
in addition to crayons and coloring books, cards, books and
magazines for the children.
- Baby Hugging. Club members rock and talk to babies
in the Transitional Care Unit of ICU. These babies are on
respirators and need "touch therapy."
- Gift Shop. Le Bonheur Club's Gift Shop is located
in the hospital's main lobby. Offering a wide variety of
merchandise, the Gift Shop has everything from candy and
magazines to up-scale clothing, beautiful gift items, and
toys that would delight any child.
- Club members assist traveling vendors who participate in
the special sales hosted by the Gift Shop approximately
six times a year. These vendors set up booths in the
hospital's main lobby and sell items such as leather,
gold and silver jewelry, scrubs and sportswear.
- Club members assist in preparing seasonal baskets and bags
of candy that are needed throughout the year.
- Club members assist with Gift Shop inventory by unpacking,
inspecting, and pricing items as they arrive.
